Please pray for our students and teachers that are doing missionary work in the Dominican Republic! They are doing amazing things for God's glory and we'd to thank all who supported this great experience.

5th grade had a ton of experiments to do like making soda cans explode from Mentos, making Mountain Dew glow sticks and borax crystal snowflakes.

 First and Fourth grade have been getting creative by writing books of their own and making Santa Clause's. Also First has been learning to wrap gifts.

Here are some highlights of what happened
 at Greenville Christian School this past week!!

This week was the 37th annual Christmas program led by Miss. Fenner of the music department at our school. She has done an amazing job with the students on Grandparent's day and continues to do so in this program. The students sang Christmas carol's and played junkyard instruments to show their God-given talents to their families. She also directed the Drama Ministries next skit to the audience the true meaning of Christmas.

On Tuesday, Senator Bob Deuell of the Texas Senate came by our school to talk to the 7th grade class and had also a photo shoot with some of the kids in elementary!

 We asked some of the kids what they were thankful for, and here are their responses:

Wilson Feezel - "I'm thankful for God."
Matthew Sundeen - "Food is what I'm thankful for!"
Tommy Witt - "I'm really thankful for my Grandma making it through cancer."
Elijah Smith - "The high school kids are what I'm thankful for."

First and Second grade participated in a Thanksgiving feast in 
order to learn more about the holiday we are all about to enjoy!

The entire Secondary classes travelled to the Wyly Theater at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Downtown Dallas to see a live performance of A Christmas Carol

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 8th grade health class discussed drug abuse and gave presentations about 
what they had discovered to be the dangers. 

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 6th grade is starting on their state fair projects and made ice cream this Friday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second grade constructed pilgrim hats in preparation for Thanksgiving!

Third grade put together their biome projects this week and enjoyed a field trip to the 
Perot Natural Science Museum in Dallas on Friday. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(READ THIS)** SPECIAL NOTICE **(READ THIS)
Through the online fundraisers campaign GCS Giving Tuesday, we give out awards each Tuesday up through December 3rd. "Donor Man" (Mr. Bowers) along with his sidekick "Kidney Girl" (Mrs. Howell) arrived today to award cash prizes to one elementary, one junior high, and one high school student who have raised the most money in the past week. Each student won a cash award of $37 dollars.
The GCS Giving Tuesday campaign is asking each student to find 10 people to donate $37 to GCS. The campaign culminates on Tuesday December 3rd which is Nationally Giving Tuesday.

The annual Coin Drop for the DR mission trip is finished and the results are in! 

Here are the winners:

First place was 9th and 2nd grade with a positive 30,991 points earning $1,043.51! They get to go to a skating party with the DR mission team.

Last place was Pre-Kindergarten and Sixth Grade with a negative 27,092 points and $489.34 earned! They also get a pizza party along with a comfy casual day.

The overall total amount for the mission trip is $3,711!! 
Thanks to all who help support this great cause!

The Second and Fourth grade were visited by Ava Wimberly's grandfather, an expert on Indian artifacts, and he taught them about the Native American culture.

The COIN DROP is finishing up this week, we will have a special post at the end of the day announcing totals and winning classes! Thanks so much for the support in the fundraiser for the Dominican Republic Mission Trip!

The eighth grade has been learning about the nervous system by doing stress exercises to help calm their nerves in health class.

Sixth grade interviewed Mercy Deruiter about the Dominican Republic and what life is like there.

The elementary and drama classes have begun prepping for the highly anticipated Christmas Program! This will be Ms. Fenner's first time to direct the program, so give her encouragement! If you got to witness the Grandparents' Day presentation, you know that this will be nothing short of an amazing showing of the kids' talents.

This week at Greenville Christian we have started our annual competition to support the Dominican Republic Mission Trip: The Coin Drop. This yearly event allows us to raise money for our students on the trip and host a fun competition. 

Pennies are worth one positive point for the grades' bucket it is dropped in 
and silver coins are worth its value in negative points. 

Classes want to put as many pennies in there buckets as they can and as much silver coins in other classes' buckets to insure a victory. 

The money raised will go toward service projects and materials being 
taken to the Dominican Republic this December. 

Please do everything you can to help your child participate in this exciting fundraiser!!

This week the First Grade learned about the pilgrims and how to trust the lord.

The Second Grade is learning about the separatists and 
has started daily addition problems.

The Fifth Grade has been reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, 
also making "Turkish Delight", a food described in the book.

Sixth Grade has been learning about genetics and dressing up for The Westing Games

This year's annual Grandparents' day assembly was a HUGE success. It included a music piece accompanied by rhythmic basketball dribbling and another number using cups. The Grandparents seemed to have a great time of fellowship and fun.

This week the Third Grade class planted beans and worked on their math skills, to the dismay of classmate Caleb Witt, who said,"Math is terrifying."

Fifth and Sixth Grade took a field trip to Fresh Water Fisheries.
Sixth grade also flew kites on Wednesday 
as a part of Drug Free Greenville's Red Ribbon Week.

** ROBOTICS SPECIAL NOTICE **
Could you build a computer in less than twenty-five minutes? Team Talon, Greenville Christian School's high school robotics team, is engineering a robot to do (almost) exactly that! Team Talon is in its third year of involvement in Texas A&M Commerce Lion's Pride BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) Robotics. This year's team of sixteen is innovative and eager for the "sports-like science- and engineering-based robotics competition." Its members would like to invite everyone to the competition on October 26, 2013, at the Texas A&M Commerce Field House.
